Fall Garden Event on Saturday October 30, 2021

Do you have a green thumb and want the chance to spend time with your friends at St. Mary’s? Volunteering for our Fall Garden Event on Saturday October 30th is the perfect opportunity to safely get together to enjoy communal gardening. This event runs from 10a-1pm and will include refreshments to help power you through the day! If you are interested in volunteering for this event please RSVP to volunteer@stmarysfs.org. We are looking forward to this day and the chance to see everyone together safely!

Garden Clean-up Day

April 10th, 24th and May 22nd 2021 – Volunteer Event

Our Garden Clean-Up Day this year at St. Mary’s turned out to be 3 clean-up days and so much has been accomplished! Volunteers worked hard for hours and completed such activities as trimming, mulching, planting, weeding, and general clean-up. Thanks to them, St. Mary’s Shelter is dressed up and looking ready for spring and summer. Thank you to all who sacrificed personal time to serve us on our Garden Day!

STAY-SAFE-AT-HOME BENEFIT

Non-Event Fundraiser

Considering the current COVID -19 situation, we had to cancel all of our in-person 2020 fundraisers. We felt that until our community can safely gather for an event, we must continue to practice social distancing. However, our mission of providing safe housing for those in need is more important than ever. The Stay-Safe-At-Home event provided an opportunity for our community to support St. Mary’s Shelter and our transitional housing project while Staying-Safe-At-Home.

Your support provided:

$4000 – 1 Fully furnished apartment
$2000 – 2 Bedroom sets or 1 family room furniture
$1000 – Appliances for 1 apartment
$500 – Baby items (cribs/highchairs/monitors)
$250 – Small appliances
$100 – Kitchen items, bathroom essentials, linens

100% of your donations went directly to serving the needs of our families. Thank you for making this event successful and for your loving support of our families and our new Transitional Housing!

EVENT: This annual event features, local craft beer, BBQ & snacks from local businesses, live music, and fun for all!
TICKETS: $50* per person (*Above 21yrs age)

Constructions

St. Mary’s, our beloved 150+ year old building on Emmett Street, has been suffering the effects of aging. In 2011 we found out that the joists and pilings under our kitchen had rotted and the structure would have to be rebuilt. During the past 7 years this has been a nagging concern for all of us. Recent signs of continued decay made it clear that this had to be addressed immediately. During the next couple months we will restore the structure, rebuild a kitchen, replace our laundry room and add a powder room. Like our Facebook page for periodic updates.

St. Mary’s turned 30!!!

On Friday, Oct 6th, St Mary’s Franciscan Shelter celebrated 30 years of providing homeless families ‘a safe place on the journey home’. With 185 of our friends and supporters, we spent the evening reflecting on our mission, our stories, and our needs for the future. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner, heard testimonials from past residents, and listened to Seth Joyner share his story – and remind us of the importance of sharing our blessings! Thank you to everyone that made our 30th Gala an outstanding success – and more importantly for your continuous support that enables all of our success!
